7 Apps Every Recruiter Needs

As a recruiter you will already have a vast amount of pressure on you to find, contact and secure candidates for your clients. Finding the right tools to help you with this task can be tricky and most recruiters rely heavily on the Internet for their recruitment needs and to help them connect with the top talent out there.

But did you know that the extent of online recruiting doesn’t have to end with your web browser and PC?

The advent of the iPhone has seen mobile apps pushed to the forefront of technology and, as with all other areas of modern life, recruitment apps are now ten a penny on both the Apple App Store and Google’s Play Store. From apps that help you organise your time, to apps that improve candidate search, to apps that expand your reach through social media, there is something out there for you that will not only make your job as a recruiter easier but will allow you to cast a wider net in search of those perfect candidates.

But with the vast number of apps littering the marketplace how do you know which ones are useful and which ones should be avoided? Well this is where we come in. We have scoured the far corners of the Google and Apple marketplaces in a search to find the 7 best apps for recruiters out there, and here they are

1. Jobr

Jobr is a vastly popular app for job seekers but is also incredibly useful for recruiters who want to reach out to millions of potential recruits. Jobr is the Tinder of recruitment apps allowing recruiters to scan through potential employees and swipe right for suitable candidates and left for those they do not think are appropriate.

2. Evernote

This incredibly popular note-taking app can also be used for professional networking with its useful feature that allows you to transfer physical business cards into electronic contacts by taking photos of them. This makes it easier to store potential contacts and increase your network base.

3. LinkedIn

With over 300 million users and 2 new users signing up per second, LinkedIn is the largest professional social network on the planet and something that no self-respecting recruiter can ignore. Its tools allow you to easily build your network and raise your profile while at the same time link in with millions of potential candidates. With job search tools and the ability to view a vast array of professional profiles, LinkedIn is an essential tool for all recruitment purposes.

4. Shapr

Shapr is another networking app that follows the Tinder approach of swiping left and right on potential connections. The unique selling point of this app is that it uses custom algorithms to provide HR professionals with a bespoke selection of people in their neighbourhood who match the criteria they are looking for.

5. Glassdoor

Glassdoor is a website where employees and former employees anonymously review companies and their management. It has millions of jobs, salary information, company reviews, and interview questions – all posted anonymously by employees and job seekers. Glassdoor allows you to boost awareness of your company and brand on and off the their platform.

6. Blonk

Blonk is another Tinder style app for connecting potential employees with potential employers and recruiters. The difference with Blonk is that it has a global reach, where candidates can view jobs from all across the world giving this app an edge if your recruitment firm works with clients who have a global business model.

7. HireVue

HireVue is an interesting app that allows you conduct virtual interviews with potential recruits. It allows you to create bespoke questions and then send them to candidates who can video their answers and return them to you. Whilst it doesn’t replace the need for face to face interviews it does allow you to narrow your search field without having the expense of running an extensive interview program.

Bonus App: Recrur (Yes this is our app – But it’s good)

Obviously here at Recrur we are a little biased towards our own app, but why not. It’s a great app that automates many administration tasks that could otherwise be eating away at your time. With it you can keep up to date with the status of open position, store all your candidate information in one place and even automate communication with candidates. It really is a great all-round app for recruiters. Check it out and we are sure you will agree.

So, there you have it, our list of what we think are the seven essential apps for recruiters on the market right now. Using these apps will help you find the best candidates, connect with potential recruits more effectively, and find the perfect positions for them.
